Maybe unemployment isn’t such a bad idea after all…
I’m really tired of feeling as though I’m responsible for wiping my boss’s ass. She’s got ME keeping track of emails SHE sends — what contacts SHE’S responded to on certain issues, what companies SHE sent promotional material, who SHE’S heard complain about recent changes, etc. I’m now actively keeping track of 7 different things she does on a daily basis. This is all in addition to my normal job duties.
Not only that, but she really needs to learn how to utilize the Microsoft “Help” application. That handy little button up there, where you can search for whatever your little heart desires? Yeah, she’d rather ask me to solve every minor user-related problem, such as: changing the font, setting her preferences, and updating her contacts.
Like I’ve said before, there’s a fine line between an assistant and a slave.
The former? I’m over. The latter? I’m so far beyond annoyed that it’s approaching time-to-find-a-new-job territory.
All I want is a little bit of respect…
…and, perhaps, a little bit of gratitude and friendly interaction, instead of the shrill, tense, can’t-be-bothered to ask you how you’re doing that I’ve been receiving.

That stinks. I hate when people abuse their power and then don’t even say thank you.
I found you via blogging barbie and may I just say…Amen! Feeling your pain over here!
I know how you feel. I want to quit so badly right now, but I know that that is the farthest thing from a good decision.
Also, at my last job, I had to repeatetly (sp?) show my boss how to copy and paste.
Oh my. I too would be so over that. In fact, I am a little shocked at what you have to do for her. Like, reallY? Gah.
That sounds demeaning. When you rise to the top, and have people working under you, I’m sure you’ll remember this experience and treat your employees far better!
oh my… you took the words right outa my mouth! As much as it sucks to hear about, I take a little comfort I’m not the only suffering from this situation!
Lately my boss has me doing a lot of follow up calls because she forgets the names of people she is meeting with. That and there was that ‘cheatsheet’ I created for her for how to do certain things in Microsoft Office (including bullet points & formatting) that she so conviently lost (3times) before refusing to take another copy. *sigh* I’ll never be like that.
Good luck with your scatterbrained incompetent! At least, hopefully you can find the humor in the situations.
